DRAWING ON STYLE EXHIBITION

MASTERS OF FASHION ILLUSTRATION

LONDON | 15 – 26 SEPTEMBER 2021

Drawing on Style 2021 is a curated buying exhibition celebrating original fashion illustration by the masters of the genre from the 20th century and today.

Highlights of the exhibition, many of which have never been exhibited before, include the ravishing  and sophisticated artworks of contemporary master David Downton, the glamour of fifties couture drawn by René Gruau, the beautiful work of René Bouché who was particularly known for his work in Vogue between the 1930s and 60s and includes an original artwork for Elizabeth Arden from 1949, the vibrance of the New York fashion scene seen through the eyes of the great Antonio and the work of Steven Stipelman and Robert Melendez, both masters of their craft and key names from the heyday of WWD in the 1970s and 80s. Other highlights include the bold and striking works of Gladys Perint Palmer, the assured hand of creative visionary Ali Mahdavi, the innate strength of style created in the works of Italian contemporary master Andrea Ferolla and the instantly recognisable contemporary works of both Jason Brooks and artist-in-residence for Dior Bil Donovan.
